Carey Mulligan "I think we have a sexist film industry, and stories about women are largely untold.”

It's not that boring is dedicated to supporting women within the film industry. In 2018 I witnessed a revolutionary documentary called 'This Changes Everything' featuring celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Shonda Rhimes, and Meryl Streep laying out statements to highlight why women have struggled to make film titles due to the high ratio of predominantly male studio managers ruling the last 60 years. Studying the history, from the silent era all the way to 21st Century, I wanted to create a platform that not only highlighted films directed, made, and created by women but gave opportunities to marginalise equality behind the camera. I’ve interviewed female cinematographers, DOP’s, and directors who’ve started out as runners and made it to win awards.

The times are changing, and this year (2021) for the first time in history we’ve seen two females nominated for directing at the Oscars. My aim is to help support and fight this movement, to tell stories by women of colour, lesbian women, and trans people, so there's an equal balance of stories shining a brighter future for our next generation.
